South African multidisciplinary artist Money Badoo brought her genre-defying sound and distinctive visual world to Berlin on Friday, 28 August, with a live performance at Pop-Kultur Festival 2026, marking another significant step in the artist’s growing international journey.
Taking to the stage at the Maschinenhaus at Kulturbrauerei, Money Badoo delivered a live set showcasing the bold musical and visual identity that has established her as one of South Africa’s most exciting contemporary artists.
Blurring the lines between alternative R&B, trap, experimental pop and performance art, Money’s Berlin appearance introduced audiences to a body of work that refuses easy categorisation. Her performance formed part of Pop-Kultur’s international 2026 programme, which brought together artists from across the world for a week of live music, commissioned works, talks and creative exchange in Berlin.
The performance comes during an important period for Money internationally, as she continues to build connections between South Africa and key global music markets.
For Money, Berlin also represents more than a single performance. Her time in the city has provided an opportunity to connect with the local and international creative community, develop new music and continue expanding the visual and sonic universe surrounding her work.
Born in Johannesburg, Money Badoo has developed a multidisciplinary practice spanning music, fashion, photography and performance. Following her debut album PORNSTAR, she has continued to push her sound and creative identity forward, most recently through MSRYLUV$CMPNY released via Paradise Sound System.
Her appearance at Pop-Kultur places her within a diverse 2026 programme spanning electronic music, alternative pop, experimental music and contemporary club culture, alongside international artists including Avalon Emerson & the Charm, Bar Italia, PVA, Sassy 009, The Notwist, Automatic and others.
