I have been making a concerted effort to cover more African artists and in my search, I came across a talented artist by the name of Deena. She recently released a new track titled ‘TENSION’. Off the bat, you can tell that she represents an underground sound, with the crazy production and punch-in styled raps. The song sees Deena talk about how she is pressing people for attention, basically saying that she is here to make her mark in the game. She also adds that typical rap braggadocio on the song, and she jut ooozes all sorts of confidence. The visual treatment of the song carries the energy of the song with an internet styled theme to it. I guess the only criticism I have of the song is the rather short runtime of 1 min 41 seconds.
