Johannesburg-based independent artist, songwriter and creative Sjookzee, born Walter Gumede, is gearing up to release his latest single, “Ngawe,” on 4 September 2026, marking a new chapter in his evolving musical journey.

Blending Amapiano, Afro-Pop and contemporary South African sounds, Sjookzee is carving out his own lane through melodic music, storytelling and relatable themes around love, life and personal experiences.  His journey began as Sjuqwana, a nickname given to him by his late grandmother, before evolving into Sjookzee, with Qwana Orb becoming the wider creative world around his artistry.

With releases including “Nomfundo Anthem,” “Iphanta,” “Ngi Happy,” “Mngani,” “Uthando” and “Amalanga,” Sjookzee has steadily built his catalogue. “Amalanga” has already surpassed 80,000 Spotify streams, signalling growing momentum for the independent artist.  Now, “Ngawe” arrives as a romantic new offering, introducing a refreshed sound and visual identity as Sjookzee continues building beyond music and shaping Qwana Orb into a broader creative platform.
