Porsche’s First Hybrid 911 Completes Rigorous Testing

Porsche has announced the successful completion of its highly anticipated hybrid 911, marking a significant shift for the iconic sports car. After a robust global testing program, the new 911 hybrid is primed for mass production and love it or hate it, is poised to elevate the driving performance with its dynamic hybrid technology.

Frank Moser, Vice President of Model Line 911 and 718, emphasized the significance of the development, stating, “For the first time in its 61-year legacy, the 911 will incorporate a hybrid system aimed at enhancing the vehicle’s dynamism.” This innovation was put through rigorous paces under extreme conditions worldwide — from the arctic chill to the heat of Dubai, ensuring its resilience across diverse environments.

A key highlight of the hybrid 911’s capabilities was demonstrated on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, where it surpassed its predecessor by 8.7 seconds. Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister noted the hybrid’s superior performance, attributing it to enhanced grip and power, along with the hybrid system’s swift response. The test model included standard road tires and an optional aero kit featuring a fixed rear wing for increased high-speed stability.

This advanced model not only promises improved efficiency but also a superior performance that does not compromise on Porsche’s renowned engineering excellence. With more than five million kilometers of developmental driving to ensure perfection, the new hybrid 911 is set to be officially premiered on May 28 as part of a global Porsche broadcast via the automaker’s official YouTube channel.
