2020wayfly: Flying Through Pain, Time, and Transformation

2020wayfly is a South African artist from Sebokeng, with roots in Tshepong, whose music is deeply shaped by real-life experience. His sound is born from pain, growth, resilience, and the quiet strength required to keep moving forward. Over the past three years, his life has undergone profound change, and this transformation is etched into every note he creates.

Two years ago, following the birth of his daughter, Tshepo entered one of the most challenging seasons of his life. In the same moment that he became a father, he also lost his job, forcing him to navigate uncertainty, pressure, and responsibility all at once. Just a year later, he suffered the devastating loss of his father, a moment that shook him deeply and forever altered his perspective, spirit, and art.

In the midst of grief and transition, music became both refuge and release. It became the space where Tshepo could process loss, confront his fears, and find meaning in survival. From that place, he began composing a body of work that reflects his journey as a man, a father, and an artist. Each track carries themes of endurance, hope, and self-discovery—emotions that often sit beyond the reach of words alone.

The name 2020wayfly symbolizes movement through struggle: flying through pain, time, and transformation. This project is more than an album—it is a living diary of the last three years of his life. A dedication to love, loss, and the strength found in choosing to continue, even when everything changes.
