PHAT STOKI, the pseudonym of Gontse More, is an international DJ, cultural organiser, and one of the brightest luminaries in Johannesburg’s club scene.
Their sound is a meditation on nightlife itself: loud, sweaty, intimate, yet deeply healing, where the bass thunders against the walls and freedom reverberates through bodies in motion. At the heart of Phatstoki’s practice is community.
As co-founder of P*ssy Party, a platform dedicated to amplifying queer, femme, and women DJs, PHAT STOKI has created space for artists to experiment, exchange, and expand their craft. This initiative has grown beyond Johannesburg to Cape Town and Durban, collaborating with international acts and hosting workshops that empower the next wave of DJs and producers.
PHAT STOKI impact resonates far beyond South Africa. They’ve played at some of the world’s most respected festivals, including OppiKoppi, Nyege Nyege, AfroPunk, Zakifo, and CTM Festival, as well as five Boiler Room appearances and a coveted closing set for M.I.A on her South African tour.
