Yo, South Africa! As the country gears up for the ultimate celebration of real SA music excellence, METRO FM is thrilled to announce the official hosts and star-studded line-up for the METRO FM Music Awards 2026 (MMA’s), going down on Saturday, 25 April at the Durban ICC.
The show will broadcast live on SABC 1 and stream on SABC Plus at 20:00. Holding down the main stage as hosts are the queen herself, Midday Link Up’s Lerato Kganyago, alongside actor and TV presenter Lawrence Maleka. This stylish duo is ready to bring nothing but energy, swag, and charm to the night.
Keeping the vibe turned all the way up in the Green Room are METRO FM’s newest guns, Nomuzi “Moozlie” Mabena and Siyabonga “Scoop” Ngwekazi. On the Black Carpet, sponsored by Africa Fashion International (AFI), Lamiez Holworthy (METRO FM’s Penthouse Session host and DJ) will be shutting it down with pure glamour. Meanwhile, Zola Mhlongo will be your official Voice of God (V.O.G.).
This year’s Music Director is none other than Grammy Award-winning producer and music icon, Zakes Bantwini. With Durban as the backdrop, he’s about to take the music to another level.
The electrifying METRO FM Music Awards Festival takes place at Moses Mabhida Stadium (People’s Park) and will be hosted by Somizi Mhlongo (Weekend Breakfast Show & Ask a Man) and actress Hope Mbhele. Expect a non-stop party till the sun comes up.
METRO FM Business Manager, Kina Nhlengethwa, said: “This year’s METRO FM Music Awards is a milestone moment celebrating South Africa’s rich music journey, backed by METRO FM’s four decades of influence. We carefully put this host line-up together to honour our music icons and the evolution of the culture.”
The festival is stacked with heavy hitters, including Big Zulu, Jumbo, Big Nuz, Mthandeni, DJ Sox, Mafikizolo, Babalwa M, Khuzani, LKG, Simmy K, Young Stunna, Lamiez Holworthy, Mgarimbe, Dladla Mshunqisi & Beast, Distruction Boyz, DJ Tira, and Dankie Boy.
