The METRO FM Music Awards 2026 (MMA’s) is set to be an unforgettable celebration of music excellence, with this year’s theme: Icon-Inspired Music Excellence.  

As METRO FM celebrates 40 iconic years in the industry, this theme is a fitting tribute to the icons who have shaped South Africa’s culture and heritage dynamics. This year’s MMA’s are taking place in the rich vibrant city of Durban. This unique concept honours the past while embracing the future, showcasing the fusion of heritage and greatness through Zulu textured cultural elements.  

The theme is depicted through intricate beadwork, inspired by traditional Zulu izinhlonzi patterns that communicate identity, status, and love. Animated beadwork transitions bring these patterns to life, dissolving and reforming in 3-beat rhythms that mirror the rhythmic pulse of Zulu music. The triangular motif is a nod to the Isigqi (Rhythm) of Zulu culture, representing the three beats, three points, and one unbroken loop of music.

Tickets for the awards ceremony taking place at the Durban ICC are available on Computicket in two categories: Block E and F (R1,100.00) and Auditorium Seating (R750.00). The event takes place at 45 Bram Fischer Road, Durban, with limited secure paid parking and disabled facilities available.  The party continues with the METRO FM Music Awards Festival at Moses Mabhida People’s Park.
