‘A Hero’s Journey’ is the first release from The ACE, a three-song conceptual project inspired by The Hero’s Journey — a narrative about growth, return, and continuing the path forward, even when it hasn’t gone exactly as planned. This first act represents departure: a conscious return to the journey, shaped by experience, reflection, and unfinished goals.
The song was written and recorded between Cape Town and Bangkok, and produced by Soulful Clay, marking our reunion following our previous collaboration. Sonically, it blends warm keys, laid-back drums, and reflective lyricism with an optimistic, forward-moving feel. Lyrically, it speaks to resilience, self-belief, and coming back stronger — captured in the hook line, “I took a few steps, now I’m back for the rest.”
To further bring the story of The ACE to life, an official music video has been shot across Cape Town and Bangkok, visually mirroring the journey between where it began and where it continues.
‘A Hero’s Journey’ serves as the follow-up chapter in my catalogue after my debut single, ‘Bubble Boy’ (feat. Wax Beach), released in late 2020, which received strong local support, radio playlisting across South Africa, and reached number one on a Top 40 chart show. While I later released new music in 2023, this project represents a more focused and intentional creative return.
‘A Hero’s Journey’ is set for release on Friday, 6 February 2026.
