SZA, Vans Artistic Director, marked her Paris Fashion Week debut with a front-row appearance at the Louis Vuitton Menswear Show, wearing the Ladybug Garden, a 1-of-1 custom Vans Authentic created exclusively by emerging NYC-based jewelry designer Rachel Goatley.
Designed specifically for Paris Fashion Week, the custom footwear reframes the front row as a platform for creative visibility. SZA’s look spotlights emerging female craft, using one of fashion’s most public stages to elevate new voices in design.
In addition to the Ladybug Garden Authentic’s worn at the Louis Vuitton Menswear Show, Rachel Goatley designed four additional 1-of-1 embellished Vans pairs for SZA to wear throughout the week in Paris, expanding the collaboration across classic Vans silhouettes, the Authentic and Old Skool. Each pair features custom enamel lace locks, handcrafted in sterling silver, yellow-gold plated, and set with sapphires, topaz, opal, citrine, malachite, and diamonds, introducing material richness and precision craftsmanship to classic Vans forms.
Goatley is a self-taught jewelry designer and Creative Partner at Greg Yuna New York, where she has spent the past decade designing fine jewelry in close collaboration with Greg Yuna. Her work centers on intimacy, heirloom-level craftsmanship, and a fine-art approach informed by abstraction, studies of shape and color, and close attention to the individual wearer. This collaboration translates that visual language into footwear, creating a singular expression of adornment and identity.
By wearing custom craft from an emerging female designer for her first Paris Fashion Week appearance, SZA underscores her commitment to elevating new creative voices on the global fashion stage.
Later in the week, SZA will continue engaging with Paris through a community signing and product giveaway away from the runway, details to be announced.
