Rapper, singer, and songwriter Elestee returns with a new EP titled Mentally I’m Here, alongside the release of her brand-new single “On a Low” featuring Grammy-nominated star Ayra Starr. The project follows her sassy, aspirational breakout single “Designer Baby”, continuing Elestee’s steady rise within the Afrobeats and alternative R&B space.

Mentally I’m Here captures Elestee’s current state of mind, navigating the emotional highs and lows of love, heartbreak, and self-awareness. Spanning six tracks, the EP blends youthful angst with playful introspection, offering an intimate yet confident snapshot of her inner world. Produced by Louddaa, the focus single “On a Low” is a spicy, emotionally charged record that unpacks a less-than-ideal romantic situation with honesty and finesse. The EP also introduces two additional new tracks: “On The Road,” a melodic rap cut, and “Comfortable,” a sultry R&B offering that showcases her vocal versatility.

Speaking on the project, Elestee shares:

Mentally I’m Here is a project that was curated to express where I’m at in my head at the moment. It’s just as literal as the title claims — exploring love and liberation in my generation, all the drama that comes with it, and what I’m leaving behind.”

Elestee’s journey has been years in the making. After a three-year development process at the Mavin Academy, which has nurtured some of Africa’s most influential stars, she was officially unveiled as the label’s latest signee in 2023. She marked the milestone with the release of her self-titled debut EP, which The Guardian praised as a testament to her “impressive range, artistic intelligence, and sonic talent.”

Showing no signs of slowing down, the Bonny Island native released a follow-up EP less than six months later. POISN further cemented Elestee’s reputation as a musical chameleon with a razor-sharp pen. Her debut year earned her Rookie of the Year at the 2023 Galaxy Awards, and she was recently named among the NME 100 emerging artists to watch in 2025.

Rooted in Afrobeats but unafraid to stretch across genres, Elestee continues to carve out her space with a seamless blend of rap, melody, and experimentation. Tracks like “Many Men,” “Selina” featuring Major AJ, “Liar Liar,” and her recent single “Space” featuring Port Harcourt duo Ajebo Hustlers highlight an artist in constant evolution — mentally present, creatively liberated, and firmly in her moment.
