South African artist Seriously Daniel is back with a bold new single “HOSH” a high-vibration Kwaito track that blends nostalgic sounds with sharp modern energy. Produced by Soulful Clay (Clayton Damons), HOSH is a confident anthem made for weekend grooves, taxi rides, and street celebrations from the kasi to the city.
A follow-up to the emotionally rich “NoBadVibes,” HOSH showcases
Daniel’s cultural, playful but intentional approach to music, using local slang, rhythm, and bounce to connect with a wide South African audience. “Whether you’re in your car, the taxi, in the kasi or in Sandton,” says Daniel, “this song will keep you moving.” But beneath the bounce lies something deeper. One of the song’s standout lines “Hotnot changed to a hotshot” reclaims a painful slur and flips it into a declaration of power.
Speaking about the lyric, Daniel says:
“I know the weight this word carries. It’s been used to insult and diminish. But I’m taking it back. I’m saying: I’m here, I’ve leveled up and I’m not ashamed of where I come from. This is for all of us who were overlooked and told we’re not enough.”
This release is more than music, it’s cultural affirmation. HOSH is a tribute to local spirit, Coloured identity, Pantsula flair, and Mzansi heat. It nods to Kwaito greats like Zola and Arthur while standing tall in today’s music scene.
