Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady Attends Jr. NBA Clinic and Launch of First Mobile Hoops Health Clinic in Soweto

On June 12, 2025, NBA Africa and South African NGO Rhiza Babuyile officially launched their first-ever Mobile Hoops Health Clinic at the Klipspruit Sports Centre in Soweto, South Africa.

The launch was attended by Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and seven-time NBA All-Star Tracy McGrady, alongside Basketball Africa League (BAL) President Amadou Gallo Fall, two-time NBA All-Star Joakim Noah (whose roots trace back to Cameroon), 1986 NBA Champion Sam Vincent, and former NBA players Olumide Oyedeji (Nigeria) and Pops Mensah-Bonsu (Ghana).

The mobile clinic—equipped with a basketball hoop attached to the vehicle—is designed to serve communities across Gauteng and surrounding areas, offering local youth access to both the game of basketball and essential health resources during its operating hours.

Following the official launch, over 130 boys and girls aged 16 and under participated in a Jr. NBA clinic, engaging directly with the NBA legends in attendance and taking part in a day filled with inspiration, skills development, and community empowerment.
