In the words of the late great Riky Rick, “listen to the kids”. As of lately, I have been making an active effort to listen to artists in the underground and one artist that I particularly enjoy is DiorSantana. My introduction to his music was a through a single titled ‘Relapse’, and I was immediately impressed by how he went about the song. Naturally, I stayed tapped in for his latest release, B4Xo.
DiorSantana opens B4Xo with the song ‘Neva Easy’, which brings together everything I enjoy about DiorSantana. He has an impeccable inkling for when and how to change flows and delivery to construct a song. The songs “No friends” and “Follow My Lead” see him rap atop aggressive production dominated by equally aggressive basslines. I have been talking about DiorSantana’s sound, however, I quite enjoy his writing too. However, the magic in his writing come via his flows with him paying particular attention to rhyme schemes over overt lyricism. I could go on and on about the intricacies of this project but I have to leave something for the imagination right? Listen to B4Xo below.
