“From South Africa to the world” is a mantra I constantly preach, highlighting how our creativity, expertise, and talent can transcend borders. Yesterday, one of our very own, Lindiwe Dhlamini—known in the music space as Lisher Rayze—announced on her social media that she’s joining Mass Appeal as the new Director of Operations.
For those unfamiliar, Mass Appeal was founded in 1996 as a graffiti magazine and later revived in 2013/2014 with funding led by Nas. Today, it’s a powerhouse in global hip-hop culture, owning Mass Appeal Records, co-founded by Nas and Peter Bittenbender. This is a monumental moment for South Africa, hip-hop, and, most importantly, for Lindiwe Dhlamini and African music as a whole.
In her announcement, Lindiwe expressed her excitement:
“Joining a company that’s at the forefront of global hip-hop culture, bridging the gap between music, art, and innovation in ways that are revolutionizing the industry, is a massive honor. From producing chart-topping hits with legends like @Nas, to building creative platforms that empower the next generation of creators, Mass Appeal continues to redefine what it means to be at the intersection of culture and creativity.”
As a culture, we are immensely proud of her achievements. Her role will involve overseeing the day-to-day operations of the label, artist development, and more—a massive responsibility, but one we know she’s more than equipped to handle.
Make sure to follow Lindiwe on social media to keep up with all the amazing work she’s doing and the incredible things she has in store. This is a win not just for her but for African music and creativity at large.
