Of all of my duties at HYPE, I quite enjoy listening to new artists, which is something I don’t get to do often enough. When I ‘discover’ a new artist, I feel as though I have found my own nugget of gold. One such artist is Mia Ria, whom I was recently introduced to. She recently released a single titled ‘I Miss You’. From the onset, I was impressed by how polished her sound is. She understood that she was creating a song, which is often time more complex than it seems. She has a clear ear for melodies and she understood that in this case, less is more. Her focus on delivering lyrics in the melodic pocket of the production is what makes Ria Mia a tantalising listen. There are portions of the song where she enters a cadence that is closer to whispering and it provides enough variety on the song to keep you hooked. All in all, Mia Ria’s ‘I Miss You’ will be added to my rotation. Listen to ‘I Miss You’ below.
