In the dynamic African hip-hop scene, Nigerian rapper PDSTRN’s latest release, Rock Paper Scissors, offers a powerful and heartfelt tribute to his roots. Launched today, this album is more than a musical project—it’s a journey through PDSTRN’s life, spotlighting the struggles, dreams, and resilience that shaped him and his community.
The seven-track album, created over 11 months of recording and refining, blends Nigerian culture with modern rap, merging local storytelling with a global perspective. Produced in a Lagos recording camp with collaborators DECS, MOTION, and Bakaa, Rock Paper Scissors captures the unique energy of its environment, creating an experience that feels both intimate and cinematic.
Standout tracks include “Letter 222 Dele” featuring Ayo Maff, a deeply personal ode to loved ones impacted by street life, and “MEMORIES,” where PDSTRN reflects on his journey with a skit featuring his grandmother’s voice. Each track shares his perspective as a Nigerian youth with big dreams, from the emotional depth of “Mon Ami,” a hood love song, to the motivational anthem “MOTION.”
This release marks a new chapter in PDSTRN’s career, building on his previous achievements, including his win at the Hennessy VS Class and a viral performance on SHOW OFF by Amazing Klef. Through Rock Paper Scissors, PDSTRN invites his fans—whom he calls his “RUNAWAYz”—to walk alongside him in his world, sharing in the ambitions, challenges, and hopes that define his story.
