As Tim Cook was updating viewers on all of the innovations coming to the iPad lineup, the Apple CEO was subtly sporting a custom-made pair of sneakers.
Building on Apple’s longstanding history of collaborations, Cook wore Nike Air Max 1 ’86s that celebrated the new Apple Pencil Pro, a work and design accessory for the iPad.
The shoes featured an off-white mesh body and sole, while the mudguard and toe included a unique soft “wave” effect and a rainbow-speckled pattern. Decorative stitching surrounding the Swoosh and on the heel nodded to the Apple Pencil Pro, mimicking the lines of a sketch.
The Swoosh also appears on the tongue of the ‘86s, along with the handwritten words “Made on iPad.”
The Air Max ’86 was designed to flex all of the iPad Pro and Pencil Pro’s advanced capabilities. Made exclusively for Cook himself, the sneakers won’t be available for the public to purchase. Check out everything Apple unveiled during its May 7 livestream.
