The Element is a Hip Hop show that first came to life in 2018 as a radio program on the digital platform Massiv Metro, produced and presented by Azizzar—widely known as the Pristine Queen of Hip Hop. True to its name, the show explored the core elements of the culture—DJing, MCing, Graffiti, Breakdancing, and Knowledge of Self—anchored by what Queen Azizzar calls the ultimate element of Hip Hop: love. That ethos gave birth to the tagline “For the Love of Hip Hop.”

The impact was immediate. In 2019, The Element earned a nomination at the South African Hip Hop Awards for Best Radio Show, and its popularity on Massiv Metro quickly grew. What started as a weekly slot expanded into a weekday fixture, airing Monday to Friday from 6PM–8PM.

Over the years, Azizzar welcomed a powerful lineup of guests, including Kwesta, K.O, Moozlie, Nadia Nakai, Ginger Trill, Blaklez, Jay Jody, and many more, shaping The Element into a trusted space for authentic Hip Hop conversations. Unfortunately, in March 2023, the show came to an abrupt pause when Massiv Metro shut down.

But Hip Hop never dies—it reinvents. In 2025, The Element is officially making its return, this time as a podcast—a move aligned with the evolving digital landscape and the demand from its loyal community.

“The Element’s format has changed, but it is still rooted in its ethos of excellence,” says Executive Producer and Presenter, Azizzar. “We’ll continue bringing in-depth, intimate conversations with Hip Hop artists, curators, and contributors. We’ll still be asking the questions fans really want answered, breaking down bars from projects, and delivering top-quality entertainment and content.”

The upcoming Element Podcast will primarily take the form of a video-driven show, set to premiere on YouTube soon. In the meantime, fans are encouraged to subscribe to the official The Element SA channel and turn on notifications to make sure they don’t miss a single drop.

With its legacy of love, knowledge, and excellence, The Element is ready to once again become a cornerstone of the culture—this time, for the streaming generation.
