Hot on the heels of his recent single Coco Money, global Afropop trailblazer Adekunle Gold has released his brand-new track Bobo and officially announced his highly anticipated sixth studio album, FUJI, set for release on October 3rd.
Merging tradition with futurism, Bobo is a bold showcase of Adekunle Gold’s sonic evolution. The track features the symbolic West African talking drums — historically used to mimic speech and still a staple of Nigerian celebrations today — woven seamlessly with futuristic soundscapes. Produced by Niphkeys and Seyifunmi, and featuring fellow Nigerian stars Lojay and Shoday, the song pairs Yoruba and English wordplay with infectious energy. In it, AG Baby celebrates his wins while unapologetically declaring his intent to keep living boldly.
With the critical success of earlier singles Obimo and Coco Money, and the inevitable hit status of Bobo, Adekunle Gold now gears up for the release of FUJI. The album is set to be his most vulnerable and soul-baring project to date, blending rich traditional instrumentation with contemporary Nigerian pop. Beyond the music, Adekunle Gold’s global presence continues to grow. Later this month, he will join the Gumball 3000 rally, performing alongside Eve, Afrojack, and J Balvin at its 300,000-capacity music festival stop in Bucharest. He’s also set to perform with the Guildhall Session Orchestra at London’s prestigious Royal Festival Hall on November 23rd, as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.
