You really can’t sleep on these Durban brothers — their work ethic speaks volumes. One standout among them is Tony Dayimane. After delivering a blazing album last year, he’s back with a powerful follow-up: an 8-track EP titled Big Boy II.

The project features some heavyweights in the game, including ANATII, Usimamane, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Anzo, and 25K. The opening track, “WTF”, kicks things off with a sample from the iconic English pop-rock band Dexys Midnight Runners — specifically, the first 13 seconds of their classicGeno.” True heads will also recognize this same sample from the late PRO’s track “Uthini Ngo Pro.

One of the standout joints on the tape is “Kwedini” featuring ANATII. His pen and presence are unmatched, and he’s been on a hot streak with his recent feature verses. This track proves that synergy and creativity are still alive in SA hip-hop.

Another favorite is the soulful “Imizwa” featuring Lwah Ndlunkulu. It’s a beautifully written love song, and Lwah absolutely shines, pouring her heart into every note. She continues to cement her place as one of South Africa’s most gifted vocalists.

Overall, Big Boy II is a well-balanced project that shows just how serious Tony Dayimane is about his craft. His writing, delivery, and ear for collaboration all shine through.

Give this EP your time — you’ll walk away convinced of Tony Dayimane’s brilliance as both a writer and rapper.
