Seiko to Release Three New Prospex Solar Speedtimer Chronographs

Seiko has released three new Prospex Solar Speedtime Chronographs, each sporting a look drawing inspiration from a different aspect of motorsports while nodding to the ‘70s — the era when the first Seiko Speedtimer was introduced.

Going by the name of “Grand Touring,” the reference arrives in a stainless steel build paired with a sunburst gray dial that evokes the mood of vintage muscle cars. Its navy blue aluminum bezel brings an elevated touch to the timepiece, instilling a sporty contrast with the Lumibrite indices, while the subdials come in a stealthy black.

The “Circuit Race” variant boasts a predominantly black palette on its dial and bezel insert. The sub counters come in a midnight blue, offering a subtle contrast to the dial plate, while indices, bezel ring, hands and pushers are doused in a gold-colored plating. The color combination draws references from vintage circuit racing as well as the speed and excitement it entails.

Last but not least, “Racing Sports” derives its thematic look and palette from lightweight sports cars of the past. Its dial comes in an ivory hue, contrasting its deep blue subdials, while the tonal Lumibrite hour markers and handset gently blend in with the backdrop. The watch is outfitted with a classic dark green bezel and complete with a rally-style leather strap.

All aforementioned Prospex Solar Speedtime Chronographs are set to release in June via Seiko, with prices ranging from £590 – £620 GBP (around $739 – $776 USD).
