Check Out the Standout Collections From Pratt’s 2024 Graduate Runway

Pratt Fashion headed to Brooklyn’s Powerhouse Arts for its annual runway exhibiting the collections of its fashion design graduates. This year’s event was simply titled “The Show.”

In front of an audience of more than 300 guests, 20 members of the graduating class presented a collection of between eight and twelve looks, along with accessories and footwear, making for a total of 180 looks.

Among the designers showcasing their collections were Shayna Block, Sean McGiveney, Nyta Brace, Junxuan Guo, Jeff Guangxhou Cai, Lu Luyao Tang, Scott Junjie Wang, Zoe Knaack, Anna Felton, Lavender Naduo Luo, Madison Newcombe, Dayeon Jeong, Malek Rasmussen, Shuyan (Jane) Jin, Jen Sohyun Park, Eiligh Orff, Isabelle Shin, Zhouyi Wang, Brendan Sheerin and Emilio Pompetti.

The final designer to show, Pompetti, showed a colorful lineup of ready-to-wear streetwear stables. Injecting new energy into each garment, the designer painted graphics on oversized button-up short and long-sleeve shirts. In other looks, baggy jeans and skirts were paired with cross-body bags. Accessories drew from contemporary trends, with one model wearing long socks with lace-up ballet-style flats. Following the show, Pompetti was presented with the 2024 Christopher Hunte “On Point” Award, a $10,000 USD grant in honor of the late Pratt professor.

Other standouts from the evening included Madison Newcombe’s playful reconfiguration of domestic materials, using doilies to form a dress and enveloping the closing model in a quilt-like cape, along with Jeong’s artistic approach to shaping and structuring her silhouettes.

The evening also celebrated Marni Creative Director Francesco Risso, who was presented with the Pratt Fashion Visionary Award for his work in the fashion industry and his efforts with young and emerging designers. Risso had visited Pratt last month and viewed the students’ collections.

“I had such a lovely day swirling around the corridors at Pratt, experiencing such a beautiful commitment and creativity within students and teachers and professors,” he said. “There’s not a better situation to feel proud to receive this award. I am humbled and I am deeply honored to be able to experience this … as education has been part of this last [year’s] focus for me.”
